Employment & Labor Relations

Six of our attorneys devote a majority of their time to preventing, resolving, and defending personnel problems and claims.  Attorneys in the Employment Department are currently defending numerous class actions for the State of Alabama and other clients, including the Crum litigation, which is the largest institutional class action ever filed in the United States.

The Employment Department assists clients in creating and perfecting employment policies, drafting handbooks and manuals, assuring compliance with various state and federal employment laws, and defending against charges, claims, and suits by employees.  Our attorneys have years of experience in employment related litigation – from Fair Labor Standards Act claims to the Office of Federal Contracts Compliance Programs claims to Title VII and Constitutional claims and associated state law contract and tort claims.

The Employment Department also offers a range of labor relations services to management, including preventing and resisting union organization, handling contract negotiations and arbitration, advising employers on immigration issues, and representing employers before the National Labor Relations Board and in the courts.
