Jimmy Walter obtained his undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University and his law degree from the University of Alabama. In law school, Jimmy was elected Editor-in-Chief of the Alabama Law Review, was a Hugo L. Black Scholar and graduated Order of the Coif. Upon graduation, he clerked for the Honorable Truman M. Hobbs, Sr., United States District Judge for the Middle District of Alabama.
Jimmy has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the specialties of arbitration, commercial litigation, securities litigation, banking and finance litigation and mediation, and in Alabama Super Lawyers in the specialties of alternative dispute resolution, business litigation and commercial litigation.
He has more than 35 years of experience in all types of civil litigation in state and federal courts. He has extensive experience in commercial litigation, including business and consumer fraud, accounting, antitrust, banking, class action, contracts, construction, government, insurance, products liability and real estate litigation.
Jimmy has extensive dispute resolution experience. He has been a member of the American Arbitration Association’s Roster of Neutrals since 2014 and has served as arbitrator in numerous commercial and consumer arbitrations. Additionally, Jimmy has represented contractors, owners, businesses, consumers, and financial advisors in arbitrations. He has successfully mediated dozens of business and consumer disputes as a private and court-appointed mediator for business, consumer and personal injury cases.
Jimmy currently serves as the Chair of the Alabama Supreme Court Commission on Dispute Resolution and is a certified arbitrator and mediator registered with the Alabama Center for Dispute Resolution.
Jimmy has served on the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He has served as a Bar Examiner of the Alabama State Bar and is heavily involved in numerous professional, church and civic organizations, including the Church of the Ascension and the Montgomery YMCA Endowment Foundation.
